I was introduced to blogging during my senior year of college and it stuck with me. It's been nearly 2 years and throughout my blogging journey I've received random emails from ladies who are interested in starting their own blog. I always appreciate when
women ask me questions about my website because it lets me know that I'm doing a decent job. One of the most popular questions I get is, "Should I make my own blog?" My response is always, "Yes! Why not?" So if you're interested in creating your own blog, I made this post just for you! Here are 5 reason why I think you should start a blog . . . .
You have been living in this world for quite some time now. Whether you're fresh out of high school or you're a married woman with a family, you know a lot. Yes, there's always more to learn but I'm confident that you know a thing or two about something. I think many people don't realize that they have the ability to teach. You have something special to share to the world and blogging is just another platform you can use to get your message across. People would love to hear your story and be part of your journey!
One of the things I love about being a lifestyle blogger is that my topics are broad. I can share about my college experience and I can also share about what it's like to be a dog mom at 24. Yes, it sounds silly but there are thousands of y0ung women who can relate to me. Never think your ideas are too silly because there are so many women who share these random interests with you. If you have the desire to start your own blog, it's probably because you want to share something that you're passionate about. Maybe you enjoy creating DIY projects or writing about relationships..I say you should just speak your knowledge on what you love!
Once you become a blogger, your network just got bigger because blogging is universal! You will have readers from the UK to China who stumble across your beautiful website and somehow... they will relate to you and they might even become a subscriber. By the way, if you're reading this blog post from outside the U.S. , HHEEEYYYYYYYY!! My experience with the blogging community has been great and many are supportive. One of the things that helped me grow my website was joining Blogger groups on Facebook. I've met many talented women who are 100x smarter than me and they all inspire me to work harder.
Create. Create. Create. As a blogger, you are constantly thinking of creating fresh new content. Don't downplay your creativity because this is what's going to make you standout. Do you know how much time, effort, and dedication goes into blogging? This is why so many bloggers end up MONETIZING their websites because it took so much effort to put it together! If you're serious about your blog, you will naturally promote it everywhere you go. Random coworkers have stumbled across my blog because my email signature on gmail has my website attached to it. You should also keep in mind that when you write, companies are looking for writers! YESSSSS! You just never know when a big brand is going to want to feature your blog post on their website.
Yes! You're the Narrator, you're the Boss, you're the Big Kahuna . . . You manage your own website. I've always disliked the idea of someone telling ANOTHER person's story without their consent. I also can't stand when people fabricate their stories. I want to write my own story and I think you should write YOUR own story. You have a voice USE it. A blogger is like an open book. You're the one that's in charge and your audience wants to know the real you. Don't fake the funk. Be authentic.
